Find out how to arrange an accessibility audit for your DfE product or website.

You can get an audit from an external provider or arrange an internal audit, depending on the type of product or website you have.

Before requesting an audit, make sure you have planned what needs to be tested and have the information auditors will need.

Internal-facing products

If your product or website is internal-facing, for example Workday or a DfE SharePoint site, email the Business Engagement and Accessibility Team.

They can help you understand what you need to do to arrange an internal audit.

External-facing products

If your product or website is external-facing, submit an audit request to DesignOps.

DesignOps aims to respond to requests within 5 working days.

They can help you:

  • understand what type of audit you need
  • plan your audit timeline
  • prepare the right information for auditors
  • find the right audit provider

How to procure an external audit

After you have spoken to DesignOps and understand what type of audit you need, you can arrange an external audit.

You can contact Zoonou, DfE's accessibility audit supplier, to arrange an audit.

Email the contract manager for Zoonou, Mitchell Jones, at mitchell.jones@education.gov.uk.

Alternatively, you can use the three or more quotes process (opens DfE intranet in new tab).

We still advise that you contact DesignOps before procuring your audit. They can help you understand whether an external audit is appropriate for your service and what type of audit you need.

Before the audit

Make sure the auditors have the information they need to access your service and complete the agreed user journeys.

You should also make sure your team has planned enough time and resource to respond to the audit findings.
